Characteristics of big Data (2)

Velocity: The Speed of data Flow

Velocity refers to the speed at which data is generated, shared, and processed. In the digital world, information is perpetually on the move—imagine live videos, real-time stock market changes, or even GPS tracking from your phone. The quicker you can gather and analyze this data, the more valuable it becomes.

Organizations are routinely faced with a situation where they have to act quickly, based on the data that is flowing rapidly. Let us take as an example, the online retailer who is changing the prices or the recommendations all the time depending on the real-time of what the users are clicking on. This means that the Big Data systems have to be capable of instantaneous processing and response to the data.

Technologies such as real-time analytics, streaming platforms, and artificial intelligence are the ones which manage the speed and help. If the velocity is not handled properly then the data may be outdated even before it could be used.
