Big data has the potential to revolutionize the way healthcare professionals pick up the signs of and treat their patients. By analyzing vast quantities of electronic medical records, doctors are able to identify unexpected correlations of the diseases and thus they can provide more appropriate and rapid care. Besides, it enables them to pinpoint the best medications for each patient.

Hospitals will use big data to detect potential illness in people. They can discover, for example, if there are early symptoms of a heart condition. Consequently, physicians will be able to solve the problem before it gets worse. Moreover, it is not only life-saving but also a way to ease the burden of hospitals.

Big data also makes it easier for hospital administrators to manage resources effectively. It allows them to see which medical equipment or rooms get the most use. This not only allows the hospital to set up their care services more efficiently but also indirectly ensures a better experience for their patients due to a decrease in waiting time.

In the near future, scientists might find a cure for the biggest killer - cancer - with the help of big data. For instance, by having the supercomputers at their disposal, they can go through cases after cases of the disease to identify novel and effective therapies, this could bring about the speed of new cures worldwide that we have only dreamed of!
