Pie Charts 

Pie charts are circular charts that are divided into slices. Each slice corresponds to one part of the whole. The area of each slice compares the part in question with the whole. Pie charts are perfect for representing fractions of the whole pie and for understanding how the items are distributed.

Pie charts find their way into the surveys and reports mostly. One such instance could be a pie chart sketching the distribution of hours that people spend throughout the day on different activities: sleeping, working, eating, and relaxing. Every segment will represent the amount of time dedicated to each task.

The most important thing here is that pie charts are suitable for a limited number of categories. A lot of pieces will turn a pie chart into something confusing to look at. In addition, it is recommended to assign different colors to the slices for making them more visible and easier to comprehend.

Pie charts are quite popular in the press and presentation business because of their appealing and simple design. They are very quick in displaying the division of a whole into parts, thus significantly facilitating people's comprehension of the information.
