Line Graphs

Line graphs connect the dots on a chart with lines. They are primarily used to demonstrate the progress of a certain thing over a period of time. A point represents a number, and the line joining those points shows the trend. Line graphs can be a great option if you want to have a glance if a certain thing has increased or decreased.

For instance, a line graph can represent the variation of temperature during a week. The bottom will show the days of the week, and the side will indicate the temperature. The line shows you whether the weather has been warmer or colder through the days that have passed.

Moreover, line graphs are excellently applicable if the purpose is to visualize the similarities or differences of two or more datasets. Multiple lines can be plotted in a graph with different colors for each data set. Taking the example of comparing the growth of two plants over a period of a month. That way, you quickly and easily see which one was faster or slower.

Line graphs have got a great use in science, business, and education as well. They come in handy when you are looking for patterns or changes to understand better. Since they clearly depict trends, they can help a person make decisions that are based on the information.
